The Shand & Jurs Model 94406 Vertical Inline Deflagration Flame Arresters are designed to provide a positive flame stop on low pressure tanks or piping systems containing flammable liquids or solvents having a low flash point. Model 94406 not only provides exceptional protection against flame from external ignition, but also offers maximum flow capacity.
Shand & Jurs Vertical Inline Deflagration Flame Arresters are generally installed with pressure-vacuum vents, or in-line free vent to atmosphere. The tube bank design consisting of a spiral-wound crimped ribbon around a solid core, maximize flow capacity with minimum pressure drop. The standard flame arrester is Factory Mutual (FM) approved to meet the ATEX application requirements per EN 12874 and ISO 16852.
Periodic inspection, maintenance and replacement of the tube bank is easily accomplished by simply removing tie-bolts and expanding the remaining jack screws. Once the upper and lower body sections are expanded, the tube bank is easily removed with the aid of a handle.
Standard body construction includes light weight cast aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, cast steel, 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel body materials suitable for most environments. Tube bank is available in 304 stainless steel or 316 stainless steel as standard. A complete range of sizes from 2″ [50 mm] through 12″ [300 mm] are available with flat face or raised face flanges to match ANSI, EN1092 or JIS connections.
For highly corrosive applications, body and tube bank construction of Duplex SS, Hastelloy C, or Alloy 20 are available.

The Shand & Jurs Model 94407 Horizontal Inline Deflagration Flame Arrester is designed to provide a positive flame stop in horizontal gas piping systems containing flammable vapors having a low flash point. The 94407 not only provides exceptional protection against propagation of fire, but also offers maximum flow capacity. It is specifically designed to prevent liquid accumulation in the tube bank assembly.
The tube bank design, consisting of a spiral-wound crimped ribbon around a solid core, maximizes flow capacity with minimum pressure drop. The standard flame arrester is Factory Mutual (FM) approved to meet the ATEX application requirements per EN 12874 and ISO 16852.

The Shand & Jurs Model 94450 Combination Deflagration Flame Arrester and Free Vent provides both positive flame stop and maximum venting in a compact fitting. This Shand & Jurs fitting features an easily accessible, unitized tube bank. It’s completely removable for quick inspection and servicing, even under severe conditions of unpredictable corrosion or neglect.
The tube bank consists of passages formed by spirally winding alternate flat and corrugated sheet stock around a solid core. To insure maximum flow, constant tension control is maintained during winding.
The tube bank is contained by its shell between the body and free vent adapter. The hood and adapter can be easily removed as a unit.
Standard body construction material choices include light weight cast aluminum, cast stell, 304 or 316 stainless steel, ductile iron and cast iron. Raised face or flat face flange to match ANSI, EN1092, or JIS connections.

The Shand & Jurs Model 94470 Combination Conservation Vent and Deflagration Flame Arrester is a single, easy to configure package providing for pressure and vacuum relief, as well as positive flame stop on low pressure tanks containing flammable liquids or solvents having a low flash point.
The conservation vent features cushion seated diaphragms constructed of FEP Teflon for reliability and extended service life. For high reliability, the pressure and vacuum pallets are both peripherally and center stem guided.
The unitized tube bank provides maximum flow while minimizing pressure drop. Both body and tube banks are available in numerous materials to meet the requirements of your site.

The Shand & Jurs Detonation Flame Arresters provide protection against flame propagation through piping runs and vapor recovery systems, while allowing maximum flow efficiencies. This design quenches a flame front approaching from either direction, even if it has transitioned to a detonation. The Arresters contain a detonation while retaining the integrity of both the arresting element and the housing. This is ensured by the design of the passages in the tube bank and the detonation resistant construction.
Standard construction of the housing is available in Carbon Steel or 316 Stainless Steel. The tube bank is Stainless Steel throughout. Special construction materials to withstand the corrosive actions of some vapors and atmospheric conditions are available upon request.
These models are available in a range of sizes from 2″ through 24″. Additional sizes available upon request. Standard connections are ANSI 150lb. or 300lb. Class raised face flanges.

Description
The Shand & Jurs Model 94308 Miniature Flame Arrester plays an integral function on small storage tanks and drums where low flash point solvents must be protected against exterior sources of ignition. This arrester also allows vapor pressure to be released into the atmosphere.
Because of its uniquely small size, the 94308 Flame Arrester can be easily mounted on the end of a tank vent pipe. Vapors escape into the atmosphere and air is drawn into the tank through the flame arrester grid assembly. The tank contents are also protected against possible outdoor ignition sources.
Standard construction consists of lightweight aluminum housing and flame arrester plates. Stainless steel and other metal housings and arrester plates are available for corrosive vapor or atmospheric conditions. Plates are fabricated from heavy gauge metal to resist distortion and bending during inspection and cleaning. This also ensures positive reassembly to original factory specifications.
The Miniature Flame Arrester is available in 1″ & 2″ sizes and is equipped with standard N.P.T. connections. Adapter flanges are also available in these sizes.

Description
Operation:
The Shand & Jurs Model 94309 quenches the flame front by cooling the flame to below its ignition temperature. The flame front enters the arrester and the flame is intercepted by the arrester element which is specifically designed to provide a precision path for the flame to follow. The flame front temperature is reduced to below the ignition point of the protected vapors. This is achieved by dissipating the heat of the flame through the arrester elements and body.
Design Features:
The Shand & Jurs 94309 Flame Arrester is designed to provide maximum fl ow of vapor or gas with minimal pressure drop. The extensive arrester element surface area also provides for superior continuous burn capability. The 94309 incorporates an advanced design, which ensures precise manufacturing of the arrester components that are critical to providing superior safety products for industry.
The 94309 design is completely passive which allows for fl ame quenching capabilities without any operational interfaces typical of active safety devices or systems. Model 94309 Flame Arresters are designed with ease of fi eld maintenance, as proven by the unique extensible arrester element. The element may be inspected and cleaned in place without disruptive piping. No jacking bolts or piping separations are necessary. The element is easily removed from the fl ame arrester housing in place, facilitating cleaning or replacement with a spare element.
The 94309 can be fitted with low point drains for removal of any condensate accumulation. A drip trap is recommended for the safe removal of the condensate.

Description
The Shand & Jurs Model 94560 Combination Valve and Flame Arrester design provides for maximum flow capacity, minimum leakage and a positive flame stop on low pressure tanks containing flammable liquids or solvents having low flash points. This single piece of equipment provides pressure/vacuum venting and a flame arrester. Only one installation is required for both the venting and flame arrester functions.
The conservation vent portion of the unit features diaphragms that are cushion seated and constructed of FEP Teflon for reliability and extended service life. This contributes to high resistance to adhesion of ice and gum formations of the pallet and its seating surfaces. The body of the valve is selfdraining and drip rings keep condensation from the seating surfaces.
FM approved, the flame arrester contains a unitized tube bank. The tube bank is formed by spirally winding alternate flat and corrugated sheet stock around a solid core, maximizing flow capacity and minimizing pressure drop. This proven design insures uniformity of free area flow and allows for years of dependable service.
Quick access to the flame arrester element is attained through use of swing bolts and a hinged conservation vent. Once the wing nuts are loosened, the bolts swing away and the vent lifts clear, the flame arrester element can be accessed for inspection and servicing.
The conservation valve is weight loaded for both vacuum and pressure venting. The conservation valve is located on top of the flame arrester body and is attached by using quick release bolts and hinge. This permits easy removal of the conservation valve for inspection and/or replacement of the flame arrester tube bank. The weather hood of the conservation valve is stainless steel.
Standard pressure and vacuum settings are 1/2 oz./sq. in.² with maximum pressure settings of 24 oz./sq. in.² and 5 oz./sq. in.² for vacuum. Its flow capacity is certified in accordance with API standards.

The 94390 Arrester Bank EZ-Out can be utilized in piping that contains all manufacturers spiral wound arresters, making it a universal solution. Once the EZ-Out is removed, the tube bank can be easily removed without disturbing the piping.
