Description
The Shand & Jurs Model 94261 Vapor Recovery Regulator is a float-operated pressure regulator utilizing a weight balanced float to establish a set point. This highly accurate and extremely sensitive regulator is used to maintain close pressure control of low pressure tanks and meets requirements for vapor recovery.
The primary purpose of this vent is to conserve vapor loss before atmospheric venting or to provide a closed venting system. It has the capacity of providing simple adjustment of set points by adding or removing weights.
Model 94261 is a totally self-actuated regulator requiring no outside source of energy for its operation. A straight forward mechanical design using a minimum of moving parts provides for long service life with minimum maintenance.

Description
What is Tank Blanketing?
Gas blanketing systems are used to prevent the escape of liquid vapors into the atmosphere or to prevent moisture from entering a tank and contaminating its contents. A tank blanketing valve maintains an inert gas blanket (usually nitrogen or carbon-dioxide) in the vapor space of a pressure-tight liquid storage vessel. This process is accomplished by utilizing a steady high-pressure gas source and the Shand & Jurs Model 94270 “VAPOR GUARD” so that flow is limited to a constant value when the main valve is opened below the set point.
The valve limits the minimum pressure of the gas blanketing to cope with outdoor temperature reductions or pump outs without inbreathing air. When pressure inside the vessel exceeds the valves set point the main valve shuts off. If pressure increases due to outdoor thermal heating, or product pump-ins, the separate conservation vents opens and relieves the excess pressure. One advantage of using the Shand & Jurs “VAPOR-GUARD” is that only one valve is needed to maintain precise blanketing regulation while conventional recovery systems require several regulators to achieve the same results.
How Does it Work?
The Shand & Jurs 94270’s compact design allows the valve to be mounted directly on the tank which in turn not only reduces the number of necessary connections, but also possible leak points. Models are available with female thread connections & threaded-on flanges. The 94270 has a balanced, piston operated, main valve so that the set point pressure is virtually unchanged at any given inlet pressure within the specified operating range. The “VAPOR GUARD” has a modulating type action valve that opens and closes automatically, maintaining a closely controlled blanket pressure and gas flow.
The modulating action simplifies the valve design thus increasing reliability and reducing maintenance costs. The “VAPOR GUARD” operates in the closed position whenever the tank pressure is satisfied or exceeds the set pressure. Whenever the sensed pressure decreases, the set pressure spring and diaphragm assembly causes a downward force such that the main valve will open proportionately to control pressure and limited capacity.

The Shand & Jurs Model 94320 Dehydrator absorbs moisture from the air that is drawn into a storage tank during the unloading of product or by “thermal breathing” conditions.
Desiccant of high absorptive capacity is used as the drying agent. The hard ball shaped form of the desiccant minimizes the pressure drop, permitting more efficiency. This is a function of material surface area and retention time. The nature of the desiccant does not change the flow of gas up to the point of maximum saturation since the moisture is absorbed within the pores of the material. The desiccant is contained in a bank that can be easily removed for cleaning or maintenance.
The humidity indicator is a good barometer to monitor when the desiccant bed is saturated. To reactivate a saturated desiccant bed, heat the bed to 400°F until all moisture is vaporized. The desiccant can be subjected to thousands of absorption-reactivation cycles without any appreciable loss of efficiency.

Model 94321 Air Dryer is 40 inches high and both the cover and basket can be removed through the use of 3/8″ bolts. The desiccant basket holds 50 pounds on the 2″ size and 200 pounds on the 3″ size; this is the recommended amount required to properly operate the air dryer. The air dryer is available in 2″ or 3″ NPT or flanged to match 150Ib. ANSI connections. Nominal flow for 1″ W.C. pressure drop is 840 SCFH for the 2″ size and 3500 SCFH for the 3″ size.

Description
The Shand & Jurs Model 95661 Swing Joints permit the movement necessary in lowering the swing pipe in a swing line system. These joints are of the double elbow type, with a tongue and groove joint which retain a Teflon anti-friction thrust type washer between the swivel flanges to promote long, tight service. The two elbows are held together by a spring loaded tie rod that also has a Teflon thrust washer, plus a spring retainer for smooth action. Spring or nut-turn settings are factory set, per spring length dimension shown on table for optimum performance.
The Swing Joint is supported by two telescoping pipes which are spaced at 70° to each other. Providing support for the swivel elbow only, the stationary elbow requires no support. To avoid excessive strain on supports due to occasional shifting of foundation, it is recommended to fasten supports to the tank shell and not the tank bottom.
Telescoping pipe nipples are used as support legs for easy installation. This simplified method of installation eliminates the necessity for shimming due to varying shell plate thicknesses.
The 3″ size swing joint is available with screwed or flange connection without supports. The elbows are ductile iron metal to withstand impacts or fracturing from wrenching stresses.

Description
The Shand & Jurs Cable Winches incorporate the finest design and highest quality materials available. This winch is used in raising and lowering swing lines in storage tanks and is of the worm gear type which is highly superior to the conventional spur gear winch that requires a pawl to prevent the winch from running down. The breaking of a pawl holds the possibility of the swing line damaging the bottom of the storage tank, and the spinning handle injuring the operator.
Gears in the Shand & Jurs Winch are accurately machined with the result that the winch is smooth in operation and there is no back lash. The handle has a loose hand grip which revolves with the hand when the winch is operated. When the handle is released it remains in that position and the weight of the swing line will not move it. The winch is mounted on steel supports which can be riveted or welded to the tank shell. In the event of damage to the winch, it can be removed from the supports without the necessity of detaching the supports from the tank. The gear ratio of these winches is calculated to require the least amount of pull on the crank to raise or lower the swing lines to which they are applied.
The Shand & Jurs Winch is suitable for a variety of applications including raising and lowering swing lines in storage tanks, oil baths and other applications. Construction material is case steel fabrication. The Model 95600 Winch is made in two sizes: the No. 1 Heavy duty, 1500 Ibs. capacity and No. 3 Light duty, 500 Ibs. capacity. Model 95601 is identical to Model 95600 but has an indicator. Model 95602 has a standard lift capacity of 2500 pounds.
Shand & Jurs Model 95650 Cable Collar Clamp
The Cable Collar Clamps are necessary to properly affix the plow steel cable to the wing line. They are regularly supplied by Shand & Jurs as part of the complete system. They are made of machine steel and are available in 3″, 4″, 6″, 8″, 10″, 12″, 14″, 16″, 18″ & 20″ sizes. Be sure to specify pipe size when ordering cable collar clamps.
Shand & Jurs Plow Steel Cable
Plow steel cable combines extreme toughness with pliability and is ideally suited for raising and lowering the swing line. It readily withstands the strain imposed by the weight of the line and is sufficiently flexible to wind easily on the winch. For the greatest satisfaction, the necessary cable should always be ordered with a winch. It is available in 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, and 5/8″ diameter.
95500 Cable Sheave Brackets (Open)- Operates Standard or Heavy Duty Swing Lines

Description
The Shand & Jurs Series 95500 Cable Sheave Brackets are designed to operate standard or heavy duty type swing lines. The cable sheave bracket consists of a rugged base plate and an upper or load sheave. Two lower guide sheaves assure the proper alignment of the plow steel cable which passes through a cast iron stuffing box.
The construction of the base plate is such that the front edge of the base plate is either welded or bolted to the top angle iron of the tank shell. This ensures centering the load and stress on the tank shell rather than on the tank roof plates.
The Series 95500 Cable Sheave Brackets are available in the two basic models: the standard weight construction or the heavy duty weight construction. Each is available for welding or bolting installations. The second model is a removable bracket configuration and options are available for welding or bolting of standard weight bracket. The heavy duty bracket is for welding option only.
To ensure continuous service and smooth operation, the cable sheave brackets use graphite bronze bearings. The stuffing box is designed to accommodate 3/8″, 1/2″, or 5/8″ steel cable. For special requirements, a single or double type sheave bracket can be specified.
95506 Cable Sheave Cases (Gas Tight Types)- Operates on Pressurized Product Storage Tanks Without Loss of Vapors

Description
The Shand & Jurs Model 95506 Cable Sheave Case is designed to operate on pressurized product storage tanks without loss of vapors. The entire unit consists of a roof plate and three sheave cases. For ease of operation and long service life, each sheave is bushed with bronze collar bushings. Standard sheaves can accommodate cables up to 3/4″ diameter. For heavier cable requirements consult factory for availability.
The Model 95506 patented Cable Sheave Case is made from quality materials and backed by the Shand & Jurs reputation for providing reliable products to the petroleum and other related industries. This unit is designed for gas tight operation within the range of 4 ounces of pressure to 3 ounces of vacuum. For higher pressure or vacuum requirements, simply extend the length of the liquid seal.
This model can be operated in applications where freezing of condensate is a serious problem. In such cases, keeping the inner sheave housing clear of water is imperative. The use of anti-freeze or similar liquid in the seal should provide good protection. Gas Tight Sheave Cases are available for welding or bolting to tank roof.
