94116 Snap Action Vacuum Breaker- High flow capacity at low differential pressure
- Snap Action requires no over pressure
- Vacuum settings as low as 0.4″ w.c.
- Static pressure to 1.5 psig (MAWP)
- Light weight / High strength design
Description
The Shand & Jurs model 94116 Snap Action Vacuum Breaker permits high capacity atmospheric air flow at low differential pressures to be drawn into the liquid storage tank or pressure vessel when the internal vacuum pressure exceeds the vent setting.
The vent uses a magnetic latch system to hold the seal closed tightly at vacuum levels lower than the setting and at positive pressures. The set point is achieved by the magnetic force of a permanent magnet that attracts a ferrous plate attached to the pallet.
When the tank vacuum pressure reaches the set point, it overcomes the magnetic force and allows the pallet to instantly swing open, providing for 100% opening at set pressure with no overpressure required.
This feature provides greater flow capacities than conventional weight loaded vents.
The 94116 is designed for operation at static pressures up to 1.5 PSIG. Vacuum settings are available from .4 to 1.5 inches water column. They are designed for replacement of a rupture disc or in situations where self reclosing, high vacuum capacity is required.
The design incorporates a body that is self-draining and uses a vertical hinged pallet. These features prevent collection of condensates on the seating surface, which can lead to improper functioning of the vacuum vent.

Description
The Shand & Jurs Model 94210 Emergency Vent and Manhole Cover is an economical solution to emergency venting requirements where intermediate pressure settings are required.
The design of Model 94210 employs a flexible diaphragm affording a tight seal between the pallet and the corrosion resistant seat below set pressure. This also assures low leakage. The diaphragm is intended for normal ambient temperature storage. Special diaphragms for tanks storing products other than oils and gasoline are available.
When set pressure is achieved, the pallet starts to lift. Flow efficiency rises rapidly to approximately 60% of a perfect orifice at 40% excess of the set pressure. At higher overpressure the flow efficiency approximates 75%.
For tank venting or examination, the entire hinged cover may be lifted open in a matter of seconds, offering clear passage through the unobstructed opening. Since no gasket replacement or unbolting is necessary, this vent eliminates the expensive manpower needed to put conventional emergency vents back in operation.
Pallet construction permits a wide variety of pressure settings. See specifications for various pressure settings of all vent sizes.
Standard design is available in 10″, 16″, 18″, 20″, 24″, 30″ and 36″ sizes. The Standard Mounting Flange is 150lb. ANSI Flat Face. The body has three lifting ears that are used to raise and position the unit. This helps to protect the internal diaphragm during installation. Lifting ears are not avialable on 10″ and 16″ sizes. The 20″ and 24″ vents can be provided with flat face flanges to fit API 650 Roof Manholes. Special construction types are also available.ios de techo API 650. - Design incorporates pressure and vacuum relief
- 20″ and 24″ roof manhole
- Reduced maintenance costs
- No unbolting of vent for gasket replacement or tank examination
Description
The Shand & Jurs Model 94221 Emergency Vent and Manhole Cover provides emergency relief of excessive internal pressure and vacuum beyond that provided by tank conservation vent requirements.
This weight loaded vent utilizes Expanda-Seal™ diaphragms which provide tight seals between pallets and seats. Special diaphragm materials are available for vents subjected to severe low temperatures or used on tanks storing heated stock. Corrosion resistant pressure/vacuum seat is standard.
Model 94221 is available in 20″ and 24″ size to fit a standard API or ANSI flange. Special Flanges are available including DIN.
The pallet starts to lift when set pressure is approached. Flow efficiency rises rapidly to approximately 60% of a perfect orifice at 40% excess of the set pressure.
At a higher overpressure, the pallet completely clears the manhole and the efficiency approximates 75%. For a standard setting the capacity at 1.4 oz./sq. in.(40% overpressure) is approximately 500,000 SCFH for the 20″ size.
Pallet construction permits settings from 1.0 oz./sq. in. for aluminum pallet & 1.3 oz./sq. in. for S.S. pallet standard to 8 oz./sq. in. maximum pressure. Vacuum settings are from 1.1 oz./sq. in. standard to 4.0 oz./sq. in. maximum. If specifying other than standard vacuum setting, it must be recognized that increased vacuum setting automatically increases the set point of pressure relief.
94225 Emergency Vent and Manhole Cover (Pressure and Vacuum)- Available with Expanda-Seal Option

Description
The Shand & Jurs Model 94225 Emergency Vent and Manhole Cover provides emergency relief of excessive internal pressure and vacuum beyond that provided by tank conservation vent requirements.
The weight loaded pressure vent section employs a flexible diaphragm or an Expanda-Seal diaphragm (option), which provides a tight seal between the pallet and seat. Special diaphragm materials are available for most product environments. Corrosion resistant pressure/vacuum seat is standard.
The pressure pallet starts to lift when set pressure is approached. Flow efficiency rises rapidly to approximately 60% of a perfect orifice at 40% excess of the set pressure. At higher overpressure, the flow efficiency approximates 75%.
Vacuum relief is spring operated and adjustable, which permits a wide range of vacuum settings without affecting the pressure set point.
For tank venting or examination, the entire hinged cover may be lifted open in a matter of seconds, offering clear passage through the unobstructed opening. Since no gasket replacement or unbolting is necessary, this vent eliminates the expensive manpower needed to put conventional manhole covers back in operation.
Model 94225 is available for standard ANSI and API flange connections. Special Flanges are available including EN1092.
Pallet construction permits a wide variety of pressure settings. See specifications for various pressure settings of all vent sizes.94510 Emergency Vent- vailable with Expanda-Seal™ Option

Description
The Shand & Jurs Model 94510 Magnavent is a pressure operated emergency vent designed specifically to meet the NFPA ruling on venting requirements for small storage tanks. An economically designed and priced unit, the principle of operation is based on a unique magnetic latch.
The pressure setting is accomplished by an Alnico permanent magnet attached to the base acting on a magnetic stainless steel plate on the hinged cover. As the pressure increases, the force required to overcome the magnetic attraction between the base and cover increases until the set pressure is reached. The setting is determined by the size and strength of the magnet.
Because the force required to overcome the magnet is much greater than the force (or pressure) required to support the lightweight cover, the vent instantaneously goes to full open at the release pressure – there is no “simmering” or leakage as the tank pressure approaches set pressure.
The time – and service – proved Alnico magnet, which is cadmium plated has been extensively tested with no deterioration in magnetic strength due to shock, time or temperature.
Another innovation incorporated in the Magnavent is the Teflon Expanding Seal. The seal never contacts two hard surfaces at one point. The tank pressure forces the seal away from the cover and at the same time forces it against the seat surface of the base with the result that the higher the tank pressure, the tighter the seal becomes.
Tests have shown that there is less than 0.5 cubic foot per hour leakage at high pressure right up to the release pressure. The Teflon Expanding Seal is an added benefit to those users who are concerned about conserving product. The performance of the Expanda-Seal™ technology makes the 94510 an economical alternative to expensive pilot operated valves or rupture disks where blowdown is not a major concern.
94520 Emergency Pressure Vent and Manhole Cover- Available with Expanda-Seal™ Option
- Magnetic latching eliminates expensive loading weights
- Instantaneous opening at set pressure, no overpressure required
- Unique diaphragm construction assures tight seal between pallet and seat
- Seat opening provides for clear passage when used as a manhole
Description
The Shand & Jurs Model 94520 Emergency Vent provides emergency venting and manhole requirements, where intermediate pressure relief beyond that provided by tank conservation vents is required. This vent is not intended to meet requirements of explosion relief, but is designed to relieve excessive internal pressure. It is a economical solution to costly and dangerous tank roof rupture problems.
The Model 94520 is available in 10″, 16″ and 20″ sizes and is designed to utilize a patented, magnetic latch system, which provides greater flow capacities than conventional weight loaded vents. It also provides for 100% opening at set pressure with no over pressure required. The magnetic latching principle eliminates hundred of pounds of loading weights required by conventionally loaded vents. The vent is tightly latched utilizing permanent magnets, which are mounted to the vent cover and act on a magnetic stainless steel plate on the vent base. As the pressure increases, the magnetic attraction between the base and cover remains constant, until the set pressure is reached. The setting is determined by the size and strength of the magnets.
Since the force required to overcome the magnets is much greater than the force (or pressure) required to support the lightweight cover, the vent immediately goes to full open at the set pressure. There is no “simmering” or leakage as the tank pressure approaches set pressure.
The vent cover is prevented from opening more than 90° via spring loaded cables. These cables are attached to the cover and the vent body. This will assure the cover to self close once fully opened.
